The Difference Between Cryo Sculpting and Cryo Therapy
At our Denver Sports Rehab facility, we offer both cryo-sculpting and cryo-therapy services. At first glance, these simply seem like different terms for the same thing, but is that true? The truth is that cryo-sculpting and cryo-therapy are indeed two different things, and we are going to delve into just what sets them apart here today.
Cryo-Sculpting Defined
What cryo-sculpting and cryo-therapy have in common is that both utilize the power of cold. But both services utilize cold for different purposes and with different goals in mind and therefore approach the use of cold with different applications.
Cryo-sculpting uses a wand-like applicator to apply cold temperatures to specific areas of the body. This honed application of cold aims to encourage fat loss. Studies have shown that tissue that is exposed to extreme cold does in fact die and then gets flushed from the body, including fatty tissue. So, if you are trying to remove stubborn fat around your belly or hips or a specific area of your body, cryo-sculpting can be a useful tool in helping you achieve your physique goals.
Cryo-Therapy Defined
Cryo-therapy utilizes cold as a, well, therapy. Unlike cryo-sculpting where cold is applied to targeted portions of the body, cryo-therapy targets the entire body, save for your head. Cryo-therapy works because it reduces your overall body temperature when exposed to cold temperatures and when your body temperature is reduced, it signals to your body to send fresh, oxygenated blood to all your extremities. As a result, this jumpstarts the healing process. Because this process jumpstarts the healing process, cryo-therapy is often used by athletes to soothe sore muscles and recover faster.
The science behind the effectiveness of cold therapies is well documented. Whether you want to take advantage of this science to remove stubborn body fat or to reach your athletic goals, Denver Sports Rehab would be happy to help. As we said, we offer both services at our facility and we can walk you through the benefits and process of each one. You may even decide that you want to give both a try!
